Method 2, scanning 110 negatives with an Epson v700/v750 using "film with film holder" setting.

This method lifts the negs to the default 3.5mm setting of the v700/v750 and flattens the film to boot.

Here we are using "reed magnets", these are small magnets commonly used for reed switches. You can find these on EBAY and various other places.
Luckily they are exactly 3.5mm thick. If you wanted to make them higher you could always shim them with paper cuts or give them a coat of paint.

Position the magnets between the frames one on the top and one on the bottom. Be careful when doing this because the magnets are quite strong and can jump around. The last thing you want to do is scratch the negative.

Carefully place your prepared negative on the scanner glass.

Scan in the normal orientation of shiny side down (emulsion up).
